Ingredients

BloodPril Ingredients: Three Amino Acid Forms, One 500 mg Blend

Quick answer

BloodPril has three ingredient forms in one 500 mg proprietary blend per capsule: L-citrulline DL-malate, L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate and L-arginine HCl. Two are forms of the same amino acid, arginine. No amount is printed for each one. Blood pressure trials of arginine used 4 to 24 grams a day (Dong et al., Am Heart J 2011), far more than the whole blend.

Partner molecules

Why does BloodPril use two forms of arginine?

Both forms supply the same amino acid, L-arginine. They differ only in the partner molecule attached to it.

Amino acids are often sold bound to a partner that keeps the powder stable. In the body the pair separates, and the arginine is the same molecule from either form. Alpha-ketoglutarate (AKG) is a compound your cells already use to make energy. Hydrochloride (HCl) is a simple salt partner. The label gives no reason for using both.

Amounts

How much of each ingredient is in BloodPril?

The bottle never tells you. It prints one total, 500 mg per capsule, for all three forms together.

A proprietary blend only has to show its total weight. The ingredients inside must still be listed from most to least by weight (FDA, Labeling guide). That gives you a ranking, not a recipe.

  • L-citrulline DL-malate is the largest share of the 500 mg.
  • L-arginine HCl is the smallest share.
  • The real split is unknown.
  • Partner molecules add weight, so the arginine itself weighs less than its two ingredients.

Dose check

Is the BloodPril dose close to what studies used?

No. The whole blend at the 2-capsule maximum is 1,000 mg. Arginine blood pressure trials started at 4 grams a day (Dong et al., Am Heart J 2011).

Each Label bar uses the WHOLE blend at the maximum of 2 capsules a day (1,000 mg) as a best case. The real amount of any one ingredient is smaller. Studies tested each ingredient alone, not BloodPril.

The math in plain words

One capsule is 500 mg, one eighth of the lowest trial amount. Two capsules reach one quarter, and only if every milligram were arginine. It is not: citrulline leads the list, and partner molecules take up weight.

Evidence

What does research say about each BloodPril ingredient?

Arginine has a small body of blood pressure trials at gram doses. Citrulline and the AKG form have less we can show you.

Small trials

L-arginine

A 2011 review pooled 11 small trials (387 people, 4 to 24 g a day). Systolic fell 5.39 mm Hg and diastolic 2.66 mm Hg more than placebo (Dong et al., Am Heart J 2011). None tested BloodPril.

Not rated

L-citrulline

Blood pressure research on citrulline exists, but it is small. We could not open a study page to check it, so we quote no figures.

No BP trials found

The AKG partner

We found no blood pressure trial of arginine AKG to cite. Exercise studies of arginine used 2 to 20 g a day and showed little effect on performance (ODS, Exercise supplements).

Single-ingredient research does not carry over to a blend with hidden amounts. See how BloodPril works for the nitric oxide idea.

Two routes

L-arginine vs L-citrulline: how do they differ?

Arginine is the direct raw material for nitric oxide. Citrulline is one step back: the body converts it into arginine first.

  1. Citrulline is absorbed

Citrulline from the malate form enters the blood.

  2. It becomes arginine

The kidneys turn citrulline into L-arginine, the same amino acid the other two forms supply directly.

  3. Arginine feeds nitric oxide

Cells use arginine to make nitric oxide, a signal that helps blood vessel walls relax.

Makers often pair the two so one supplies arginine now and the other by a slower route. Nobody has tested that idea in BloodPril. The citrulline vs arginine article goes deeper.

Beyond the blend

What are BloodPril's other ingredients?

Three, all common in capsule supplements. None of them is an active ingredient.

Safety

Who should be careful with these ingredients?

Anyone on heart or blood pressure medicine. All three forms end up as arginine, so they share arginine's warnings.

Talk to your doctor first if this is you

Mayo Clinic says L-arginine is not advised after a recent heart attack. With nitrates or sildenafil, blood pressure can drop too low, and arginine adds to the effect of blood pressure drugs (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). Keep taking your prescribed medicine.

The label adds a caution for pregnancy, nursing, under-18s and known medical conditions. The side effects page lists every warning.

Our take

Is the BloodPril formula any good?

It is short, clean and fully named. It is also small and opaque about amounts.

What works in its favor

  • Only three active forms, all named in full
  • Arginine has real, if small, blood pressure trials
  • Plant-based capsule shell

What holds it back

  • No milligram figure for any single form
  • The whole blend is far below trial doses
  • Arginine interacts with common heart medicines

FAQ

BloodPril ingredients FAQ

What are the three ingredients in BloodPril?

BloodPril lists L-citrulline DL-malate, L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate dihydrate and L-arginine HCl inside one 500 mg proprietary blend. The capsule shell and two processing aids complete the list.

How many milligrams of each ingredient are in BloodPril?

No single amount is printed. The panel gives one figure, 500 mg per capsule, for all three forms combined. Because blends are listed by weight, citrulline malate is the largest share and arginine HCl the smallest, but the exact split is unknown.

Why are there two kinds of arginine in BloodPril?

Both supply L-arginine; only the partner molecule differs. One is bound to alpha-ketoglutarate and one to hydrochloride. The label does not explain the choice, and the partner does not change what the arginine research shows.

Does BloodPril contain any herbs or vitamins?

No. The Supplement Facts panel lists only the three amino acid forms in the blend, plus the capsule shell, a filler and a flow agent. There are no herbs, vitamins, minerals or beetroot on the label.

Are BloodPril capsules vegetarian?

The shell is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, a plant-based material, and the brand shows a vegetarian badge. The label does not say whether the magnesium stearate comes from plant or animal sources, so ask the order desk if that matters to you.

Are the ingredients in BloodPril natural?

The brand calls them natural. Amino acids like these are typically made by fermentation, and the capsule is plant cellulose. No outside certifier is named for the natural badge, so treat it as a description, not a test result.
